La notte del 24 aprile 1945 il Ponte della Vittoria venne fatto saltare dai soldati tedeschi in ritirata, insieme a tutti gli altri ponti di Verona. Rimase integra unicamente l’arcata di destra, che venne utilizzata dagli alleati come appoggio per la costruzione, completata in un giorno solo, di un ponte in ferro, indispensabile per continuare l’inseguimento del nemico. Dopo la distruzione, la guerra e la rabbia l’istinto dell’ uomo porta alla ricostruzione al voler seppellire il passato per creare un nuovo futuro. Il lutto, la rabbia, si può solo elaborare e il ponte appena finito, restituito all’ uomo, potrà avere questa funzione: ridare dialogo alle parti dolenti facendo ritrovare uno sguardo lungo, che possa andare al di là del confine. L’opera si divide in due parti: immagini di archivio e il dipinto. L’ archivio visivo vuole mostrare il progetto come prende forma, la ricerca di immagini i bozzetti per poi arrivare alla scelta finale dell’immagine.

On the night of April 24, 1945, the Ponte della Vittoria was blown up by the retreating German soldiers, together with all the other bridges in Verona. Only the right arch remained intact, which was used by the allies as a support for the construction, completed in a single day, of an iron bridge, indispensable for continuing the pursuit of the enemy. After the destruction, the war and the anger, the instinct of man leads to the reconstruction of wanting to bury the past to create a new future. Mourning, anger, can only be worked through and the newly finished bridge, returned to man, can have this function: to restore dialogue to the painful parts by rediscovering a long gaze, which can go beyond the border. The work is divided into two parts: archive images and the painting. The visual archive wants to show the project as it takes shape, the search for images, the sketches and then arrive at the final choice of the image.
